Nocturnal Indulgence
Sitting under a tree in fall's dim twilight
here we're together as we rest on grassy plain
and as wine is served from crystal light,
my fears all flee, and your souls not imagined,
all's ever so real in my fantasy tonight.
As I sit here in the splendid night
I'm never so alone as when I'm with you
even though your gaze may reflect starlight
what of your soul should I chance to see?
In my dreams we could just take to flight
but, if it all falls away from this time today,
the night's course having gone as it may
the rising sun will bring back my sorrow
for you will be gone on the morrow.
